A dense residential/commercial development (River Cross) has been proposed for an area known as the rural boundary just south of The Sanctuary on CR-419 (~670 acres). Should this development pass, it would have substantial negative impact on our community, schools, and the surrounding areas of Oviedo, Chuluota, Geneva, and east Orange County.
The board has publicly opposed this development on behalf of The Sanctuary’s 744 homes and has already written to the members of the Seminole County planning & zoning board, the Board of County Commissioners, Oviedo City Council members, and the St. Johns River Water Management District, where the project is currently under review. We have joined forces with Live Oak Reserve and Riverside and are reaching out to other Oviedo communities as well.
We have also put together a page on our website to provide as much information as we have at the moment and will continue to update it as we learn more. We strongly urge you to educate yourselves on this development and speak up! This is not the time for voter apathy!
