LCMS is hosting its 5th annual 5K race to help support Childhood Diabetes research as well the sports program at LCMS. LCMS is proudly working in collaboration with Crosslife Oviedo and other local sponsors to present this exciting community event. Immediately following the race there will be breakfast served on the LCMS campus. All are invited to attend this family event. The race begins at 7:30am.
The official USATF course route runs through our community and some streets may be temporarily blocked during the race.
The run will start at 7:30 am and will be traveling from the north parking lot of Lawton Chiles Middle School, west to the roundabout and north onto Sanctuary Drive. Participants will turn right onto Heirloom Rose and follow road through the neighborhood until returning to the school.
Roads will be closed beginning around 7:15am until the herd thins out a bit and runners can be directed to sidewalks. Please plan accordingly. There will be multiple officers and a supervisor on-site so if there is an emergency and someone needs to leave, it will be handled appropriately. OPD has spent time driving the route at 7:30 on a Saturday and counted fewer than 10 cars on the route during that time (and roughly 250 driveways along the route), so disruption should be minimal.
