There have been multiple recent reports of black bears in the community (four times – and counting – since May 24!). A mama bear and three cubs have been spotted near the 3600 block of Heirloom Rose Place, Blue Springs Cove, Spring Heather Place, and Juneberry Terrace/Water Lily Lane intersection. Please wait until Wednesday morning to put your trash cans out for collection. The trash is “bear food” and is attracting them to the neighborhood. Florida Black Bear are a protected species, and are not a nuisance animal that may be removed by the HOA, the City, or the County. Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission should be contacted if a bear appears violent. More information on bears can be found here.
